It's said that experience is the best teacher and it is from that perspective I tell my story. I have a deep connection to the Twelve Powers. Having no real experience as a programmer, much of the code needed to construct this site came to me after much toil and sometimes almost 'magically.' I don't think I would have made it without Charles Fillmore's wonderful work, The Twelve Powers of Man. The entire website, the thousands of lines of code I needed to learn including the graphic designs are all a physical manifestation of my twelve powers at work in this project being as I called on them constantly for help. What I didn't know was that my first line of greeting cards would use the colors from the Twelve Powers of Man as a theme. Designing greeting cards has been my desire for over 10 years. I love working with color, it lifts my spirit, but none of the greeting card companies were hiring, in fact it is my understanding that most of the design work is now outsourced to foreign countries with cheaper labor cost. I had seen other greeting card sites and figured since I knew how to setup a database and had a bit of animation experience, maybe I could build something. That was several years ago, and through it all -- the slip and fall that prevented me from sitting and required disability and rehabilitation, the crashed hard drive and work loss, the database that somehow locked me out after months of building -- it was my indwelling Christ and dependency on my twelve powers that got me through. When I hurt my back, I called on Andrew as I affirmed strength and Bartholomew helped me to visualize myself as mobile and able to get around. It was wisdom I sought when problems would arise as I’d try to debug or code something I didn't even know how to articulate. When I wanted to give up after my hard drive crashed, it was my calling forth of Simon, my disciple faculty of Zeal that gave me the energy and inspiration to buy a new hard drive and continue working on my dream. When I had little money and my lights were turned off, I called on Peter, my disciple faculty of faith as I continued to draw pictures of what the website would look like “by candle light,” believing that all things were in Divine Order. I called on my disciple faculties so often that eventually it became my daily practice. And so having finally built the card application, I needed a theme for my first greeting card line. I had attended a few greeting card trade shows and noticed that most companies had some type of theme. I called on James and affirmed guidance and good judgment. In the middle of doing this the idea came that since I had relied so heavily on my Twelve Powers and since each has a corresponding colors, why not use those colors as my theme. I went with it but wasn't sure how I'd be able to explain that decision without seeming to be a fanatic, not until I received a letter in the mail from Unity. In the letter was the offer for the 2010 Unity calendar and wouldn't you just know it, the theme was The Twelve Powers of Man. Not only would this year's calendar focus on this theme, there would be classes focused on this great work. Now mind you, I had already completed my designs when the letter arrived so my mouth dropped open. I could not believe and then again, I could. I had called for wisdom and guidance as I had done so many times in the past and again I received. This website and designs are an expression of my twelve powers in the physical. It is still a work in progress and I hope you will help me by submitting some of your favorite New Thought quotes. My background includes taking 4 of 6 required courses many years ago to become a licensed teach at Eric Butterworth’s church in Manhattan where I attended for several years. I also studied Christian Science for many years. I have enjoyed and was greatly inspired by the late great Reverend Ike. It was at his church I purchased my Metaphysical Bible Dictionary and it was he who helped me to know that “I had million dollar ideas.” OK, so I’m not a minister or licensed teacher and because of that some may not consider me qualified to talk or design product around this topic. However, I've done something many haven't -- "I've lived this study" -- and in the end, isn’t that what it’s really all about? I hope you will find this website a blessing to be shared and truly hope you will enjoy this work for many years to come. Beatrice -- Chief artist, designer and developer
